課程概述

Journalism has changed dramatically in the last few years. The Internet offers new possibilities of communication today and has changed the production of journalism as well as the consumption of news. Readers can directly interact with journalists, citizen journalists create their own independent news or journalists can source user-generated content over Twitter. This course discusses how the networked journalism has emerged and shaped today’s media landscape. In the first part, the networked public sphere, the role of digital media and the emergence of networked journalism will be discussed. In a second part, the changing role of the audience and citizen journalism, as well as sourcing and verification of user-generated content in a networked environment, will be covered. Students will then plan their own research projects, learn how to conduct a content analysis and present their results at the end of the semester.
